The Dominican blowout isn’t new, but salons that offer the service are expanding beyond big metropolitan areas like New York and Chicago. Nowadays, you don’t necessarily have to live in the big city to find a stylist who specializes in this technique.




What makes a Dominican blowout so special?


Women who’ve had the service and love it rave about how straight and bouncy their hair is after a blowout. It can be tough to get your hair bone straight and feathery-light at home, especially if you’re not proficient with a round brush and a two-hand technique.

On the flip side, I’ve heard some women say their hair was damaged after one of these blowout sessions. There’s a lot of heat, and in many cases, a lot of pulling involved to get the hair perfectly straight.
